Orland Fire Department Will Get a New Building
Not far from their current building.
But expect a new Fire Station that will be the new and modern building needed.
The new location is expected to be on town owned land next to the Transfer Station on Gray Meadow Road
The current location is on School House Road across from Home Inc.
A committee was formed a couple of years ago to study what is needed for the fire department in a more modern building.
Next step is getting submissions from contractors to decide on the plan that will eventually be chosen.
The Fire Department Building Committee will hold a Question-and-Answer session about the process, and all steps involved at The Orland Community Center on Tuesday evening, the 26th, at 6 p.m.
Before any decisions are made on any contractor’s submission, a final price will be established and at that point, there will be a special town meeting for approval of the budget.
John Barlow is the chairman of the Orland Fire Station Building Committee, and he told the Ellsworth American
A project like this is a big deal for a small town like Orland,” Barlow said. “I’m sure people have questions. But I think the committee has done careful work in thinking through the best solution, and with costs going up, it’s time to act. Orland residents have always been willing to step up and support town projects when there is a genuine need like this.
From someone who drives through Orland often, here is a request.
