Drivers reported seeing a truck in the median, and parts of the guard rail from the Northbound Lane of Interstate 95 near Mile Marker 155, in the middle of the road.

"The initial investigation indicates that a white Toyota 4Runner had gone off the roadway to the left, struck the guardrail, rolled over several times, and came to rest in the median. The operator of the Toyota 4Runner, 21-year-old Isaac Lemieux of Lewiston, was pronounced deceased on scene. Lemieux was not wearing his seatbelt."

Moss says authorities believe alcohol and speed to be a factor in the fatal collision.

Crews from the Maine State Police and Newport Fire and Rescue had their hands full with not just that crash, but others that stemmed from it.

Moss says there were other minor crashes in the area, caused by motorists hitting the parts of the guardrail that got pushed into the left passing lane as a result of the first crash.

The people involved in the subsequent crashes reported only minor injuries if any at all.

Blanchard's Towing assisted with removing the vehicles and debris from the roadway.

Authorities are still investigating the crash, Moss says.
