A member of the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office has died as the result of a snowmobile crash.

Staff Sergeant Bobbie Pelletier died on Sunday, as the result of a snowmobile crash in Limestone. according to a post on the Facebook page for the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office. Pelletier had worked for the department since 2008, and was most recently assigned as the supervisor of the Hermon deputy program. Promoted to Corporal in 2015 and then to staff sergeant in 2016, SSgt Pelletier was well-known throughout the county.

Details of the crash have not been released.

Other law enforcement agencies have taken to social media to extend their condolences, including the Limestone Volunteer Fire Department, where Pelletier served as a firefighter.
