A mid-morning fight between multiple students at one Piscataquis County High School sent some to the hospital with minor injuries Wednesday, authorities say.

But contrary to rumors going around town due to some misheard details, there was NOT a stabbing or weapons involved in the mele at the Penquis Valley High School.

According to a statement released on the Milo Police Department's Facebook Page, dispatchers received a call just before noon.

"We responded to a fight call at Penquis Valley High School with several students involved... For clarification, when the call was made to 911, The caller stated "staff was involved" which was misheard as "stabbing involved" due to all the noise in the background. There was no stabbing or weapons used."

The post went on the thank the other responding agencies who assisted in breaking up the fight, including the Milo Fire Department, two local ambulance companies, and the Maine Warden Service.
