The SPCA of Hancock County wants to introduce you to Haven. Haven is a big girl and as such, she's got some special needs that will have to be taken into account to make sure she can live her best life. This 3 and a half-year-old Caucasian Shepherd/Pyrenees mix, needs some room to move about. She also has a very powerful personality, ready to protect the people she considers important to her.

Our friend Cole over at the SPCA says what's key to making a good match for Haven, is someone who understands this particular pooch, perhaps someone with experience fostering or raising large-breed dogs.

"She is a BIG girl with a lot of power, so it’s important for her future family to understand her personality and needs thoroughly before they take her home. Her fluffy brindle coat and big brown eyes draw in a lot of attention, but although she is playful and protective of her specific people, it takes time to be accepted into Haven’s inner circle."

Cole recommends that whoever is interested in getting to know Haven and making her part of the pack, might want to take their time getting to know her, with multiple meet-and-greets. The SPCA is also asking that folks who are serious about getting to know her, will need to fill out an application, so they can discuss Haven's specific needs.

"Hay-Hay, as she is affectionately called, needs to be in a home with adults or children older than 15 years of age, and we don’t know how she is with cats. With slow introductions, she may be able to get along with other dogs. She would love to guard your property and your heart, if you can take the time to get to know her specific needs."
