‘Princess Bride’ Star, Cary Elwes, To Hold Movie Screening And Chat In Portland, Maine

If you grew up in the 80s, there's a very good chance your weekends were spent watching fantasy movies on VHS and later DVD. And for many of us from that era, there were a few flicks that were almost like required rights of passage: The Goonies, Back-To-The-Future, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, The Never Ending Story, E.T. and The Princess Bride! (I could go on and on, because there really were a ton of fantastic fantasy films from that decade.)

Most American women I know fall into 2 camps: those in love with Mandy Patinkin's "Princess Bride" character, Inigo Montoya...

...or those in love with Cary Elwes' character Wesley/The Dread Pirate Roberts.

Rob Reiner's 1987 classic created so many memorable characters and quotable lines (insert your favorites here...we know you know them all!) "You seem a decent fellow. I hate to kill you. You seem a decent fellow. I hate to die."

But there have always been rumblings that the real fun took place behind the scenes, as the movies stars (Elwes and Patinkin, Robin Wright, Billy Crystal, Carol Kane, Wallace Shawn, Christopher Guest, Chris Sarandon, Andre the Giant, Fred Savage, and Peter Faulk) filmed their iconic parts.

How awesome would it be to have been a fly on the wall for all the drama, romance and comedy that was taking place off-screen?

We may not have been there during the filming, but there is someone who was, and he's going to be in Maine to spill the tea, as they say.

To hear what really went on, Princess Bride fans have the opportunity to hear the stories from non other than Wesley himself, as Portland's Merrill Auditorium will host "THE PRINCESS BRIDE: AN INCONCEIVABLE EVENING WITH CARY ELWES" presented by Bill Blumenreich Presents Inc.

The event will take place on Friday September 12th at 7:30 PM, with Elwes on hand for a special screening of the film and a Question and Answer session with stories from the set after the film.
