New Text Alert Service For Maine’s Public Lands & Parks
Want to know the conditions or the latest news about your favorite Maine public lands, snowmobile trail or Maine State Park? Well, here's a brand new and very easy way to keep up with all things nature.
We have loved Maine's public land and state parks for years, and now we love them even more so during a pandemic.
The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry's Bureau of Parks and Lands division informs us that they have a new texting service sending out alerts about all the stuff mentioned above.
How very cool.
So, if you enjoy camping in one of Maine's wickedly awesome State Parks, hiking on the trails within Maine's public lands, or riding a snowmobile or ATV through the forest, then you should text them to receive these new and really cool alerts. They'll even send you "daily ice-out" alerts, if you want them to.
They can also text you their monthly news letters as well.
So for Maine Trail, Waterway and Beach alerts, select the KEYWORD first and then text 468311. Keywords are sorted and categorized by interest and location: News, Land Alerts, OVR (ATV and snowmobile information) and then State Parks.
To figure out which region of Public Lands that you're most interested in, go HERE for the PDF map provided by the Maine Bureau of Public Lands. It'll show you public lands available like Donnell Pond in Sullivan/Franklin in Hancock County and Rocky Lake in Washington County.
