On the last day that teams had to sign players that were given the franchise tag, ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the Patriots have agreed on a long-term deal with kicker Stephen Gostkowski
The two sides had until 4pm Wednesday to reach a deal or the tag would stand and Gostkowski would have been signed for just one year. Schefter says the deal will take Gostkowski through the 2018 season and pay him $17.2 million dollars.

Gostkowski has played his entire career for the Patriots since being drafted in 2006 as a replacement for Adam Vinatieri. Last season he made nearly 95 percent of his field goal tries.
