The Maine Department of Transportation and it''s contractor, R.F. Jordan & Sons Construction of Ellsworth have begun preliminary re-construction.

The safety improvements to the 0.7 mile long section of Route 46 just east of the intersection of Route 1 will include:  replacing a culvert, widening the road, removing guard rails, and extending the side slopes off the road.

Please obey the temporary traffic signals used to control traffic, and watch for workers within the project.

That section of Route 46 is a very busy area, with Hammond Lumber, Tradewinds Variety Plus, and both Carrier's Mainly Lobster and Crosby's Drive-In all within the work zone.

Work is expected to be finished by August 20th, according to the MDOT.
