Share your good health with those that drastically need it.

The American Red Cross tells us that blood donations are usually down every year around the Labor Day holiday weekend, but that the demand for blood by those suffering one way or another continues.

It's important to remember that blood is perishable and cannot be stockpiled forever. Patients with all types of conditions and ailments need donated blood and the American Red Cross needs the support of donors to make sure it's available when needed.

Today, Friday, September 4th, the Red Cross Bangor Blood Donation Center at 900 B Hammond Street in Bangor will be open between 1 and 6 p.m. with the high hopes that you'll stop by to donate.

The Blood Donation Center will also be open for donations this Saturday between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Then again this coming Monday through Thursday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

All who come to give blood between today and the 8th of September will receive a pair of Red Cross branded socks just to say “thank you” for your support.

Make an appointment to donate in Bangor HERE, or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).  A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.

There is nothing to fear, as donating blood is a quick and easy process.  You'll walk away knowing that you've helped someone in their dire time of need, which should make you feel good.
