This past April or May a painting was stolen from a private home in Woolwich.  The painting, possibly done as far back as the 1870s, shows a clipper ship sailing by Thatcher's Island off the coast of Massachusetts.  It may have been painted by William Yorke.

The value of the painting is being withheld during the investigation by the Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Department.

The painting may be hanging in someone's house at this moment, or it may have been dealt to a antiques dealer who may or may not have it for sale.  If you see it, please call Detective Adam Temple, 386-5827.
