Next Week, Maine Will Feel Like Summer has Finally Arrived
We're so close to August, it's almost sad.
Here we are, about to high-five each other over some talk of actual summer weather, while the calendar is showing that it's almost time to put the patio furniture away. Usually by the end of July, we're all complaining about the heat and wondering when we might see some relief. But not this year. Not by a long shot.
We've seen nothing but the gloomiest, doomiest weather you could ask for in a summer. Temps have been in the toilet, and it's felt like it. We've had more rain than anyone should have to endure in a summer. And only a real handful of nice, hot summer days. I'm not even a big fan of heat, but this summer I've actually been craving it.
Unless Mother Nature has other plans, there's some good weather in store.
Looking at the forecast for next week from the National Weather Service, it looks like we're all going to finally get a taste of summer, and for more than just a day or two. Depending on whether you're in the northern half of the state, or the southern half, temps could vary a bit, but sunshine seems to be the order of business for everyone.
The northern half of Maine will see temps in the mid 80's, butting up near 90 degrees. In the southern half, things look slightly more temperate with highs topping out in the upper 70's to maybe low 80's. The coast is always a bit cooler too, of course.
All I know is that it's nice to look at the forecast and see little suns next to the numbers instead of nothing but straight clouds all the time. Sure, with all this sunny weather comes the chance of a stray thunder shower, but I'm willing to take that chance for a little glimpse of sun. We're all a little short on Vitamin D right now.
