A man from Unity has been arrested following an incident that took place early Tuesday morning in Montville.

Authorities from the Waldo County Sheriff's Office were in contact with the victim at the scene. They were given information that they believed warranted a response from the Maine State Tactical Team, so it was called in to help.

"On August 9, 2022 at 0230 am the Waldo County Dispatch Center received a report of an ongoing domestic disturbance at a residence located on Morse road in the Town of Montville...Prior to the arrival of the tactical team, at approximately 0430 am, deputies arrested Aaron Nickerson, 47 years of age of Unity."

As a result of the incident and subsequential arrest, the Waldo County Sheriff's Office says Nickerson is facing multiple charges including Kidnapping, Criminal Threatening with a Dangerous Weapon,  Aggravated Assault, Domestic Violence Terrorizing, and Burglary, Possession of a Firearm by Felon, Domestic Violence Criminal Mischief, and Creating a Police Standoff.

Authorities say Nickerson was transported to the Waldo County Correctional Center and turned over to correctional staff.

Police are still looking into the matter, and the incident remains under investigation.
