The Bangor Band Kicks Off Summer Schedule: Here’s Where You Can Hear Them Next
If this week's premiere event on Tuesday was any indication, it would seem the beloved Bangor Band is set to have a stellar season this summer.
Performing their opening concert to a crowd of a couple of hundred people at the Bangor Waterfront, the Bangor Band kicked off their 2022 season with a number of lively marches.
Like many performers, the members of the Bangor Band were sidelined in 2020 due to the Covid-29 pandemic but returned in 2021.
This year, they have several events scheduled, including a performance scheduled for the upcoming 4th of July weekend.
According to their website, the Bangor Band is one of the oldest continuous community bands in the U.S.!
"We have performed at various venues throughout the greater Bangor area every summer since our first season in 1859."
Typically, the Bangor Band performs outside. So to best enjoy their concerts, it's advised to bring a lawn chair and/or a blanket. (Maine weather can cool quickly at night, so if you don't end up sitting on the blanket, you may use it to keep warm!)
Some bug spray and snacks are also advised. Although these days, you can usually find a food truck or two nearby when the band is playing, so even if you don't bring your own, you'll likely not go hungry.
Next week, the Bangor Band will be playing outside of the Bangor Public Library. The week after, it will be back to the Bangor Waterfront for the celebration of America's Independence.
They'll do a show at the Collins Center in Orono, the Veazie Community School, and even a show at the Chapin Park Block Party later this summer.
