Some of the busiest take-out windows in Hancock County are located right in downtown Bucksport, and the folks inside will be dishing out the soft serve ice cream within days as opening day is near.

The Dairy Port, at 79 Main Street in Bucksport will officially open for the season on Saturday, April 3rd, according to the business' Facebook page.

The folks at the Dairy Port will celebrate their opening with a cool little contest that will actually continue all season long.  Decorative rocks painted by "ice cream artist" Ashley Cyr will be hidden around the beautiful and very walk-able waterfront in Bucksport, and when you find one, just take it back to the Dairy Port to receive a free soft serve kiddee cone.

Now how cool is that?  Very, because we're talking ice cream here after all.

The Dairy Port is also running a "Flavor of Opening Day" contest via it's Facebook page, and as of this writing it's come down to two, either coffee or black raspberry will be featured.

The welcome news of the Dairy Port opening soon in downtown Bucksport follows the openings of such seasonal favorites as Jimmie's Ice Cream & Grill in Brewer, Gifford's Ice Cream Stand on Outer Broadway in Bangor, and Blueberry Hill Dairy Bar in Ellsworth.

So, when will other very popular seasonal take-outs like Jordan's Snack Bar in Ellsworth, Bagaduce Lunch in Penobscot, and Crosby's Drive-In and Carrier's Mainly Lobster in Bucksport finally open?  It just can't be soon enough for us.
