Another great day of food & fun is coming to Dexter in August!

If you ask me, the more summer activities in Maine in 2023, the better. The whoopie pie festival, clam festival, lobster festival, and the Moxie Festival, are all coming back. And, you can also add another Pine Tree State tradition to the list.

The 6th Annual Maine Red Hot Dog Festival is a Dexter Revitalization Committee fundraiser designed to attract a large number of people to see all that Dexter has to offer, and to have a great time! It takes place, rain or shine, on Saturday, August 12th, from 10 am-6 pm on Downtown Dexter. This also happens to fall on the same day as my birthday, so a road trip may be in order!

Known for their vibrant red color and natural casing Maine's red snapper hot dogs are a must for any backyard barbecue. Just thinking about one now with a toasted split hot dog roll, is giving me the munchies. And for the record, I like both mustard AND ketchup on mine.

Admission is free, and there are a ton of activities that the whole family can enjoy:

  • A 5K Bun Run
  • Food
  • Crafts
  • Beer & wine tents
  • The Hannaford Hot Dog Eating Contest
  • A Children’s Pie Eating Contest
  • Inflatable Obstacle Courses
  • A Kid Zone featuring games & prizes
  • Live music

And many more events will be announced in the coming months!
