They’re Back For Year 2! Get Your “Dogs Of Carmel” Calendar & Help Families In Need
In an attempt to help families in need in Carmel last year, folks got creative and came up with a unique idea: They decided to feature dogs from the town in a special calendar and sell it in town, putting the proceeds towards helping local folks who were struggling. And thus, the "Dogs of Carmel Calendar" was born.
And this year, they're bringing it back, with all new photos and dogs featured.
Carmel resident and photographer, Una Purvis, spearheaded last year's effort. She said the funds they raised with last year's calendar sales, they were able to help a few people.
"We raised $1000 last year: 2- $400 Walmart gift cards and then $200 to a family for an emergent need."
Purvis says the money is donated to the town, and then the town determines where the funds go.
She said with the success of last year's project, she had no trouble finding models for this year's calendar.
"I found it was not as tough getting dogs as last year. I had more residents contact me."
Purvis's own pups are also featured in this year's photos.
"Both of my dogs are featured again. Most likely this will be my shepherd's last calendar. She is very old and not well. She is Ms. May and my other dog is Mr. August."
Purvis says the calendars should be available by November 1st at various locations throughout Carmel.
"They will be posted for sale/donation around the town of Carmel including the town office."
