Did you update your snazzy iPhone? If so this feature is chewing through your data.

Once upon a time a young Wolfey was slammed with a data overage charge that exceeded $250. I learned my lesson. If you have unlimited data, aren't you special. Disregard this. If you don't you will be disturbed to know when you think your surfing FB using Wi-Fi, you might not.

'WiFi Assist' is a new feature that allows your iPhone to automatically switch over to your cell network if your WiFi signal is weak. Luckily it's very simple to shut off.

How to disable 'Wi-Fi-Assist'

  • Settings
  • Cellular
  • Scroll to the bottom (past your apps) and disable 'Wi-Fi Assist.' (If the slider is not green anymore, the feature is disabled)
