‘Thundersnow’ Reported In Areas Of Maine
Areas of Maine experienced a rare weather phenomenon Sunday night ... thundersnow.
The National Weather Service reports several instances of thundersnow last night. Satellite radar was able to pick up these flashes of lightning that were reported as an intense cold front and snow band pushed northward through Maine.
The flashes of yellow in the GIF above show were lightning was detected.
Some areas picked up 3 inches of snow from the snow squalls overnight. In some cases the snow piled up in 60 to 90 minutes.
