Every week, there seems to be a new wrinkle in these $850 checks.

I feel like from the time that the state's $850 checks were first being discussed until now, has been a roller coaster of changes and info. It took forever to get them going, and when they finally started mailing them out last week, the state hit a snag because they basically ran out of envelopes. It really feels like it's been one thing after another.

Never mind that plenty of people around the state have done nothing but actively complain about the checks. Some call it a handout, others call it a bribe for votes by the governor, but one thing I never see, is someone that turns away the money completely. Why would you?! But also, why complain if you're going to cash the check?

The delays got folks asking why they couldn't get direct deposit?

According to WGME, there a few reasons why the state doesn't do direct deposit. the biggest one is that plenty of Mainers don't do their day to day business electronically, and would prefer a check in the mail. Also, there's often a lot of outdated banking information. People change banks midyear, and that negates whatever they might have on record for your banking information.

But now, you can at least keep a close eye on the progress of your check coming in the mail. The state has activated their online portal for tracking your check. If you just follow this link right here, it will take you right where you need to go. You just have to input some simple info and BOOM! It's that simple.

I generally don't give a rat's behind about politics, so if they state wants to give me some money, I'll take it. I don't care about all the drama that gets imposed on these things when they happen. So if anyone needs me, I'll be watching the tracker so I can get ready to drop that dough in my breadbox.
