They're not just used to fly over your neighbor's backyard and take photos of that late night pool party!

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles or drones are used now-a-days for delivering packages, in emergency situations, and of course in the military.  Their demand for business use is growing day-by-day.

The folks at UMA say that they'll be the first institution of higher learning in Maine to offer a seven week UAV course, and it will start on October 27th at the Augusta campus!

According to a UMA press release, some of the other uses for drones include engineering inspections, monitoring power transmission lines and pipelines, and examining crop health in the forests of Maine using infrared technology.

Serving pilots and non-pilots, the seven week course will be the beginning to a FAA Remote Pilot's license.  Enrollment is offered to the general public and more information can be found at at www.uma.edu or by calling 1-877-UMA-1234.
