Various Washington County fire departments along with the Maine Forest Service are dealing with a fire today located behind the Balsam Valley Amphitheater in Columbia Falls.

A report says that the fire broke out earlier today, Thursday, August 31st.  The report released around noontime today said that "approximately 20 acres of Worcester family land" had been consumed.

A statement from the Worcester Family, the founders of Wreaths Across America stated: "“Most important, all of our employees, family and the dozens of local volunteers and community members who have come to our aid, are safe. Volunteers are working hard to contain the flames. None of the affected area is designated for this year’s harvest for Wreaths Across America and the fire is a safe distance from the acres of remembrance trees that are tagged with the names of fallen veterans.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to all the volunteers and first responders putting themselves in harms way. This land and trees serve a greater mission that we know so many care deeply for.”

The videos above and below were shot today by The Downeast Cowboy, and posted to their Facebook page.  In the videos, you'll see among other things, helicopters dropping water on the fire.
