WATCH This Past Weekend’s Wife Carrying Championship

A couple from Delaware won the 2019 North American Wife Carrying Championship this past weekend in Newry, Maine. But not before everyone involved got a little dirty!

Spectators and contestants piled into Sunday River Resort for what has turned out to be a major event here in Maine. Jerome Roehm and Olivia Dowling eventually won the competition, limping off with the grand prize of six cases of beer, which equals Olivia's weight of 111 lbs., and $555, five times her weight in cash.  The couple completed the 278 yards of grueling course in the amazing time of 59.55 seconds!
