A motor vehicle crash that occurred Saturday evening claimed the life of one local man, sent two other people to the hospital, and shut down traffic on the Penobscot Bridge into Brewer.

The accident happened just after 9 PM on Sept. 11, at the corner of Oak St. and Washington St. in Bangor, According to Bangor Police Department Spokesman, Sgt. Wade Betters.

"One of the vehicles was operated by Riley Guerra age 23 of Purvis, Missouri and his passenger was Thomas Strickland, age 23 of Cartersville, Georgia. Both Guerra and Strickland were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries received in the collision.

The second vehicle was operated by Raymond Charloux III, 40 yrs old, of Brewer Maine. Unfortunately, Mr. Charloux was found to be deceased at the scene of the collision."

Sgt. Betters said Saturday's crash remains under investigation. The matter is being looked into by both the Bangor Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and our Accident Reconstruction Team.

The Penobscot Bridge was closed to both vehicle and foot traffic for about 2 hours Saturday evening.
