Whimsical Belfast Toy Shop To Open New Location In Downtown Bangor

It was back in 2018 when it was announced that Toys R Us at the Bangor Mall Blvd. was closing. Since then, folks in the Bangor area have had limited options since then when it comes to children's toy stores.

But that's all about to change.

According to the Bangor, Maine--Historic Queen City On The Move Facebook Page:

" 'Out on a Whimsey Toys'...with a shop in Belfast as well as in Blue Hill, has signed a lease for 49 Main St. here in our Historic Queen City."

"They will be located in the beautiful 'Cassidy Building circa 1869, next to the wonderful 'Rebecca's Gift Shop'... (a family-owned business since 1985)."

As someone who has ventured through downtown Belfast with kids in tow, I can tell you that the Out On A Whimsey Toys storefront has always captivated the imagination.

Their website describes what you can find within the shops:

"Out On A Whimsey offers an extensive collection of imaginative, whimsical and original gifts for every occasion,  recipient and budget. Our goal is to make gift-giving fun and easy. Shop with us because everyone deserves a little whimsy!"

A shop like this, in the heart of downtown Bangor, will certainly be a welcomed addition, especially if they can get up and running before the holiday shopping season.

Earlier this summer, just down the sidewalk from the soon-to-be Bangor storefront of Out On A Whimsey, Bangor saw a local grocer open its doors when The Salty Brick came in to fill a void downtown.

With any luck, the success the Salty Brick has seen in the last few months will flow over to this new toy store.
