Woman Crashes Car Into the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office

A woman is facing an OUI charge after crashing her sedan through the front doors of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

35-year-old Kristin Crowley of Wiscasset was traveling south on the Gardiner Road Saturday night, just before midnight, when she ran the red light at the intersection with U.S. Route 1 and drove into the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department building. Her vehicle traveled through the front entrance, pushing the doors onto its roof, before being stopped by a stair railing, just inside the door. When the car came to a stop, Wiscasset Police say Crowley jumped out of the vehicle and took off on foot.

Wiscasset Police, Fire, and EMS, along with Deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office responded to the crash, only to find the driver gone. Shortly thereafter, Crowley was found by Officer Jonathan Barnes walking on Route 218 near the West Alna Road intersection. She was transported to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and, once released from the hospital, was taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail. She's charged with operating under influence, aggravated criminal mischief, leaving the scene of an accident, and violating conditions of release. At the time of the accident, she was out on bail for her alleged role in the November armed robbery at Maxwell's Market.
