It has occurred to many of us more than once that given today technology and general education level of the countries residents that the electoral college might be past its prime and it may be time to let the people decide who will lead.

A bill to that effect was voted on in Augusta yesterday according to the News Center and it passed adding Maine to the ranks of a list of states pushing this agenda.  The bill is called the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact if you want to read more.

the Legislature's Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee voted 6-3 on Monday to endorse on party lines, with Democrats in support and Republicans opposing.
