The Bangor Waterfront Pavilion will soon have a new name, it will be called the Darling's Waterfront Pavilion!  Darling's auto dealerships have purchased the naming rights from Waterfront Concerts for a period of four years with an option for ten years.

A press conference was held yesterday announcing the deal and the naming rights go into effect this spring.   Speaking at the conference yesterday, Alex Gray of Waterfront Concerts said, "It gives us the ability to go out and chase higher-level acts. As I’ve consistently said to the [City] Council, I truly believe that the city of Bangor is poised to be the entertainment capital of the state of Maine, and really north of Boston.”

So far this year, two concerts have been announced, Sting on June 20th and Darius Rucker on June 21st. Two more shows will be announced within the next two weeks!

The Daling's Waterfront Pavilion name will not be used for the American Folk Festival and the Kah-Bang Festival, it will remain the Bangor Waterfront Pavilion during those times.

Recently the City of Bangor has addressed some residents concern with the volume of the shows by moving the stage a few hundred feet and aiming it towards the downtown area.  They've also moved dirt in to give the audience area more of an angle towards the stage, and have created more space for a capacity crowd of 16,000.

This is the third season for Waterfront Concerts, Darlings on the other hand has been in business since 1903.  They have six auto dealerships here in Maine.
