It was on this date in 1973 over 600,000 rock fans showed up at the Summer Jam at Watkins Glen, only 150,000 of them actually paid to get in.

The rock festival happened  at the Watkins Glen Grand Prix Raceway in New York, and it featured the Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers Band and The Band. The audience was so big that most of them couldn't even see the stage.  It still stands in the Guinness Book of World Records as the "Largest audience at a pop festival."

In 1979, The BoomTown Rats scored a #1 single in Britain with "I Don't Like Monday."  Singer Bob Geldolf wrote the song after reading about a school shooting in San Diego, California.  A 16 year-old girl had opened fire on adults and kids in the playground across the street from her home, killing two.  When asked why she had done it she replied, "I don't like Mondays, this livens up the day."

In 2011 Meatloaf passed out onstage in Pittsburgh's Trib Amphitheater.  No, it wasn't because he was singing Paradise By The Dashboard Light AGAIN, it was because he was suffering an asthma attack.  It took the then 63 year-old Loaf about ten minutes to regain his composure and return to the stage.  All in the name of rock and roll!

Today's I-95 Artist Of The Day is Aerosmith!  Why?  Just because.  We LOVE featuring the "Bad boys from Boston!"   The band is currently on tour, performing tonight in Ridgefield, Washington.  Make sure that you listen today during "A Whole Lotta Lunch" and "Live At 5" for their bad ass jams!
