Roy Orbison's classic Oh, Pretty Woman hit #1 on this date in 1964.  Did you ever wonder how the idea for the song came about?  Not until now?  Well, too late is better than never.

Orbison's wife Claudette once interrupted a conversation between Roy and his manager, and when Roy asked his wife if she needed any cash, the manager interjected: "A pretty woman never needs any money."  After living more than half a decade on this planet I'd have to agree.

It was on this date in 1966, while performing a 20 minute drum solo during a concert in Sussex, England, Cream drummer Ginger Baker fell off the stool and passed out.  Of course fans of the band thought that he had given the solo his all and that smoking five packs of cigarettes a day had nothing to do with it.

In 1987, the three hairy members of ZZ Top made advance bookings for the first passenger trip to the moon.  The boys are still waiting.  At least physically, mentally they're already there. By the way, ZZ Top is the I-95 Band of the Day, once again proving that we'll take any excuse to give a band that honor.

In 1987 rock and roll pioneer Chuck Berry received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  We can't remember if he did that duck walk thing on it or not.  His movie Hail, Hail Rock & Roll also premiered on the same night. Our favorite part of the film was where he was teaching Keith Richards the opening to one of his songs.

After sitting on the Billboard Album Chart for a record breaking 741 weeks, Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd finally fell off. It was 1988.  The album was recorded back in 1972, and by 1988 the band had forgotten they did so.
