Old Man Winter was very harsh on a section of one of the most traveled roads in the state and the Maine Department Of Transportation will begin refurbishing it on Tuesday May 27th.

Route 1A beginning on Brewer's outer Wilson Street by the I-395 Bridge and extending 3.23 miles into Holden will be reconstructed and repaved.  The work will extend a quarter of a mile southeast of Charles Drive in Holden.

A DOT sign warning motorists going in both directions explains that at least initially, most of the work will be done at night.

The estimated cost of the project is $857,000 to $1,130,000.  There's no word as to when the project will be completed.
