So here it is the end of August and all our plans to slim down this summer have been bit in the butt by too many BBQs. Add to that if you are close to my age the whole thing just get harder to pull off, right? Good news is we still have time to pull it together before comfort food and the Holidays send us spinning again.

At least that is the theory from CBS News which came up with the 7 deadly sins of watching your waistline. Nothing that new but let's see if you know them all.

Seven bad habits that could be wrecking your diet, from CBS News:
--Skipping meals: They say it slows you metabolism and has a direct link to belly fat.

--Eating on the go: Theory is that not paying attention to what you are eating opens you up to eating more.

--Late night snacking: More than likely you are bored not hungry which is never good. They suggest limiting your eating to an 8-12 hour time frame.

--Eating out: And we're not talking Mc'y D's either. Restaurant foods of all kinds are caloric and the portions are just silly. Answer? Cook in as much as you can and if you do eat out  the words broiled and grilled are your friends.

--Eating too fast: Just like mom always told you, slow down.

--Cleaning your plate: In this instance we need to listen to our gut and not our mother, especially when eating out.  You full? Here's an idea...stop eating. And if it really really good? Three words for you, "To Go Box"

--Shopping while hungry: Yeah, we all know that one but it bears repeating. Make a list and have a snack before if you need one.

Did you get them all? Now here is my advice pick one or two and focus on them.  When you do it without thinking you can move on to some others. Also remember that you are just terrific just as you are and although you want to be healthier your weight does not reflect anything negative unless you think it does.
