After Decades In The City, Bangor Tire Moving To Hermon
For almost a hundred years, Bangor Tire Company has been based, appropriately, out of Bangor. But all that will change in the middle of this month, as they plan to move their base of operations to Hermon.
Starting off on Franklin Street in 1927, Bangor Tire Company originally open it's doors after taking over for the B.F. Goodrich Company, selling just Goodrich Tires and Willard Batteries.
Tommy Tarfiff, Service Writer at Bangor Tire Company, said the business moved from it's spot on Franklin St. to 35 Market St. in 1970. And that's where the Customer Service Division of the company has been based ever since.
The Commercial Tire Service Division was created in the late 1990's and expanded to a warehouse on the Coldbrook Road in Hermon in 2002. So for the better part of 20 years, Bangor Tire Company's operations have been split up in two different locations.
Tardiff says the plan is to finally combine both divisions under one roof. The Market St. location will shut down on Thursday June 10th so that crews can move all of the gear and personnel from Market St. to their newly renovated space off of Littlefield Avenue at 514 Coldbrook Road in Hermon, just behind Dysart's.
Tardiff says the plan is to open up to full operations by June 15th.
