The owners of All Around Fitness in Bangor announced this week that they've closed their doors.

The Facebook posts have become all too familiar. On Sunday evening, All Around Fitness announced on its Facebook page that the center is closed, effective immediately, as well as the 360 Nutrition Bar.  The owners cited the hardships of the pandemic as the reason for the closure, as they have been unable to recover from the months of lost business during the shutdown.

Anyone who still has stuff in their lockers is asked to contact the Business Manager, Jessica Hayes, to collect anything that needs to be recovered. Owner Travis Adams said he was making the announcement with a heavy heart. All Around Fitness is located on Griffin Road in Bangor. Posts on the center's Facebook page were announcing sign-ups for classes as late as Friday, October 30th.

Fitness centers are among many businesses that have had a hard time recovering from the many months they were forced to close. Covering the cost of the modifications necessary for state guidelines, coupled with a general fear of infection among patrons has many struggling to survive. Many people I've spoken with are intimidated by the idea of working out while wearing a mask or touching equipment that's previously been used by someone who's sweating. Gym owners have done what they can to accommodate the health restrictions and make their facilities safe, but it's hard to overcome those fears.

Our best wishes go out to the owners and employees of All Around Fitness. Here's hoping the closing of this door opens another window to success.
