The Anah Shrine will once again host its circus in Bangor and Presque Isle, after a 2-year hiatus.

Families have been missing the circus since the onset of the pandemic, with the last event held in 2019. That means we've had two years with no clowns, no trained dogs, and no ringmaster with his booming voice and top hat. The acrobats were on solid ground and the motorcycle daredevil was exploring the backroads by himself.

But now, our contact at the Anah Shrine in Bangor tells us the Anah Shrine Circus is coming back. Friday, April 29, Saturday, April 30, and Sunday, May 1, the circus will be at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. And then, the very next weekend, the acts will travel north for a 3-day appearance in Presque Isle.

There's no list of events yet, so we can't tell you what acts will be on the program. That information will be posted on the Anah Shrine Facebook page and website soon, I'm sure. It's a pretty safe bet, however, that there will be acrobats, daredevils, and clowns. We can't forget the clowns.

This is especially exciting this year because the Kora Shrine in Lewiston made a sad announcement earlier this week. The circus that has entertained families in central Maine for over 60 years, is no more.

This is not just a pandemic cancellation, but an elimination of the event. But, no worries to folks who usually went to Lewiston. The circus will be available just a little farther north in Bangor.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, prepare to be entertained and amazed. The Anah Shrine Circus is back.
