August Is Maine’s Month To Go Up, Up And Away.

If you remember the song by the Fifth Dimension it sings of beautiful hot air balloons.  Which if you have never seen a hot air balloon in person you are missing a spectacular thing. Good news is with a little bit of travel you can right that situation this month in Maine.

First Balloon Festival coming up is being held in the Lewiston Auburn area in a place called Great Falls.  The Great Falls Balloon Festival is approximately 1 & 3/4 hours away from Bangor.  This is the one my hubby and I went to a few years back when we were still dating.  It is a great day and there are lots of things to do .  This event has craft area, pancake breakfasts, carnival and balloons of course.Great Falls Balloon Festival runs this weekend August 15, 16 and 17.

The next chance you'll have comes right up the following weekend in Presque Isle about 2 and 1/2 hours north to the Northern Maine Fairgrounds on 84 Mechanic Street called the Crown Of Maine Balloon Festival and it kicks off on Thursday August 22 - 25. This festival also hosts a craft and vendor area and a kids activities.  You can see directions and the schedule here.
