Authorities Look For Evidence and Release Name Of Victim of Deadly Fire In Portland
State Fire Marshals are investigating the scene of a deadly house fire that took place in Portland early last month. And authorities have identified the person who was killed during the blaze.
According to authorities, the initial incident occurred in the early morning hours on March 6th, when a residence at 11 Olympia Street caught fire and was ultimately destroyed. One person died as a result of the fire, four more were injured.
"The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta has officially identified the victim of the March 6, 2025, fire at 11 Olympia St. in Portland as 36-year-old Douglas Grant of Portland."
WGME reported that two firefighters responding to the scene were treated on location for minor injuries they sustained in the effort to extinguish the fire.

Now, over a month later, authorities are back on the scene, except this time they're working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and other law enforcement agencies, to collect evidence from the area. Investigative crews will remain on the scene for the next 2 days.
"As part of the operation, the area surrounding 11 Olympia Street will be closed to traffic. The public is advised to avoid the area while investigators continue to collect evidence. As this is an active investigation, we won’t be getting into specifics at this time."
The investigation started at 8 AM on Tuesday morning when law enforcement executed a search warrant on the property.
