Yesterday, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, the City of Bangor officially closed off all playground equipment and City owned basketball courts to the public.

It's now well known that the germ that transacts coronavirus can exist for hours on a metal surface.  That, along with the CDC directive that everyone must practice social distancing at this time, City officials decided to do the right thing and close the numerous playgrounds and recreational areas to the public.

UPDATED:  This includes the closure of all Bangor School Department playgrounds as well as various City sports facilities.

City parks and trails remain opened, and those that use them should remain six feet apart from each other.
