Bangor PD Arrest Man Who Allegedly Stole Gun From State St. Business
The Bangor Police Department has been working hard to track down those responsible for a string of burglaries in the Bangor area. Friday they arrested a man who was charged with breaking into the Bangor Region YMCA.
Most recently, they apprehended a man they say is responsible for breaking into a couple of different Bangor businesses, at 44 Main Street, and a pawn shop located at 145 State St.
According to Bangor Police Detective Lt. Brent Beaulieu of the Criminal Investigation Division, authorities caught up with the suspect 2 days after a witness had seen the person in question break a window at the pawnshop, and make off with a number of items. It was later discovered that one of the things that were taken was a firearm.
"Clyde Cooper, 51 years old with no permanent address has been taken to the Penobscot County jail and charged with Burglary (class C felony), Theft of a Firearm (Class C felon), and Violation of Conditions of Release (a class D misdemeanor). Mr. Cooper was currently out on bail from a previous burglary to a motor vehicle arrest in Bangor. Mr. Cooper was also charged with Possession of scheduled Drugs due to a large amount of suspected methamphetamines he was in possession of at the time of the Burglary arrest."
Beaulieu says Cooper had been charged with the burglary for the Main St. business the week before he allegedly broke into the pawn show.
Cooper is currently being held at the Penobscot County Jail on $4,000 cash bail.
