Broadway Incident Leaves One Injured And Police On Leave
Authorities say an incident on Broadway in Bangor, Maine, on Wednesday resulted in one person being sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and 3 Bangor Police officers on administrative leave pending an investigation. This is standard protocol when any law enforcement member is involved in a shooting.
Sgt. Jason McAmbley of the Bangor Police Department says the officers were responding to a home at 2735 Broadway, just before 3 PM. 911 dispatchers had received a call from within the home stating that someone there was armed and threatening self-harm with a firearm.
Upon their arrival, authorities staged a meet-up at AIM Recycling. They attempted to make contact with the armed individual.
Bangor police officers were seen grouped up along the road and throughout the treeline.
When the armed individual declined to follow the repeated directions of law enforcement to give up the weapon, officers shot the person.
"Officers on site provided immediate medical aid. The injured person was transported to a local hospital by the Bangor Fire Department. The officers involved in the shooting are Officer Brian Cronk, hired in 2015, Officer Taylor Reynolds, hired in 2016, and Officer Ben Ferland, hired in 2018. They have been placed on administrative leave as is standard procedure in a police involved shooting."

Bangor PD had a large section of outer Broadway by the Bangor-Glenburn town line closed down for several hours during the incident.
That stretch of road serves as a major artery into the City for folks from Corinth, Charleston, and the Dover-Foxcroft area. Traffic was rerouted for a majority of the afternoon so that law enforcement could manage the scene and keep everyone safe.
As is also standard protocol in all officer-related shootings, the Office of the Attorney General is conducting an investigation into the matter.
