Bangor TV 5 Meteorologist Chris Ewing To Retire Next Week
After 30 years in the Bangor market, the long-time WABI TV weather guy is calling it a gig.
Chris Ewing, a channel 5 and overall Bangor television icon will give central and eastern Maine viewers his last forecast on Friday, April 16th. Viewers will not only miss his reliable weather wisdom and ability to predict major weather happenings, but his easy going demeanor and sense of humor.
According to WABI.TV, Ewing studied meteorology at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire, after obtaining a degree from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. After a few stints in the Massachusetts area, he moved to Maine back in 1990 to join the WABI TV 5 weather team, where he has been ever since.
Besides his steadfast television presence in the area, Chris Ewing is also well-known to young students in the area's local school systems, where he enjoyed talking all things weather related.
The WABI Facebook post tells us that Chris and his wife Debbie, to whom he has been married for over 30 years as well, will be moving to the North Carolina area, where we presume Mr. Ewing will enjoy playing many rounds of golf during his retirement.
We thank Mr. Ewing for presenting the day's weather forecast periodically over the years on our Townsquare Media radio stations, and we especially thank him for "being there" as he was the calm in the storm many, many times, over the past 30 years.
We wish he and his family wellness, and may he enjoy many happy years of retirement.
