Maine Department of Public Safety spokeswoman, Shannon Moss, says 32-year-old Margaux Whittemore of Belfast was found dead outside the home, when officers and troopers arrived at a residence on Giles Road.

Moss says officers found another woman, 67-year-old Dorothy Whittemore who owned the home, inside the house and injured. She was brought to the hospital and listed in critical condition. We're told her condition has since improved.
34-year-old Samuel Whittemore of Belfast, Margaux Whittemore's husband, initially fled the scene of the home when authorities arrived on Wednesday but was later apprehended and taken to the hospital for evaluation.
"He was transported to Maine General Hospital in Augusta for an evaluation and has since been transported to the Kennebec County Jail where he has been charged with Murder... At the time of the incident, they were visiting Samuel’s parent’s home. Dorothy Whittemore is Samuel’s mother. His father was not inside the house at the time but arrived shortly after the incident occurred."
Marguax Whittemore's body was transported from the scene in Readfield to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta on Wednesday. An autopsy was performed on Thursday, during which the manner of death was ruled a homicide, although at this time, authorities aren't releasing the cause of what killed her.
Samuel Whittemore will make his first court appearance on Friday, February 23rd, where he will face the charge of murdering his wife.
