According to Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss, the Maine State Police, along with officers from the Winthrop Police Department, arrived at a home on Giles Road just after 10:00 this morning after receiving a 911 call.

When they got there, Moss says Troopers found one woman, outside of the home, dead.

"They discovered an injured adult female inside the residence. She was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston where she is listed in critical condition. The suspect, an adult male fled the scene and was taken into custody by a Trooper a short distance away. He was transported to Maine General Hospital in Augusta for evaluation."

Moss said that the deceased woman, the injured woman, and the man in custody were related to one another.

The body of the woman found dead at the scene has been transported to Augusta, where the Chief Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy to find out just how the woman died.

Authorities with the Major Crimes Unit, along with Detectives and Evidence Response Technicians remained at the home collecting evidence all day Wednesday. Authorities do to believe the public is in any kind of danger in connection to this case.

They will release the names of those involved once the family has been notified. The incident remains under investigation. We will update the story as more information becomes available.
