Belfast Native Tapped As New Bangor City Manager
Bangor has a new City Manager. The City Council voted recently to appoint Belfast native Carollynn J. Lear to the position. Lear will step into her new role in the middle of next month.

She follows in the footsteps of long-time Bangor City employee, eventually turned manager, Deb Laurie, who has been acting City Manager since February of 2022.
Similarly to Laurie, Lear's credentials include many years of public service, according to City officials.

"Lear brings extensive experience in government operations, tax law, and public administration at both the federal and state levels...Lear currently works with the IRS’s Office of the Taxpayer Advocate and has previously served as assistant commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration, where she led a 160-person agency with a $24 million budget."
City Council Chair, Cara Pelletier, says she believes the city made the right choice when picking Lear.

“Carollynn’s broad experience in government made her a great choice for the Council. Her voice will be important when it comes to legislative mandates and proposals in Augusta and their impact on Bangor.”

Deb Laurie, the current City Manager, announced last November that she was planning to retire after over 3 decades of working for the City.
