Body Of New York Man Found In Baxter State Park; Search Continues For Daughter
Teams of rescue units from the Maine Warden's Service and the Maine Forest Service have been working with K-9 units and helicopters from the Maine Army National Guard, combing the Maine wilderness of Baxter State Park to locate a father and daughter from New York who went missing from the summit of Katahdin this past Sunday.
According to authorities with Baxter State Park, the body of the father, Tim Keiderling, age 58, of Ulster Park, New York, was located by a K-9 team just before 3 PM Tuesday, while the search continues for the daughter.
"We regret to share that at approximately 2:45 p.m. today (June 3), a Maine Warden Service K9 search team located the body of Tim Keiderling on the Tableland, near the summit of Katahdin. Search efforts continue for Esther Keiderling. This release will be updated when new information becomes available. We know that many of our social media followers share in our deep sadness for the family and friends of Tim Keiderling, and appreciate your support as a team continues the search for Esther."
There is no indication yet as to how Keiderling died.
28-year-old Esther Keiderling, Tim's daughter, remains missing. Both the Hunt and Abol trails in the park remain closed as rescue crews try to locate the woman.
We will continue to update this story as information becomes available.
