Body Of Eastport, Maine Man, Reported Missing By His Family, Found Near New Brunswick Beach
The discovery of a vehicle in Washington County and a body near a beach in New Brunswick has brought some closure to the loved ones of a man from Eastport, Maine, this week.
According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, at around 2 PM Monday, September 14th, the family of 47-year-old Daryle Hall of Eastport reached out to authorities to report that Hall had not been heard from and his car had not been seen since the previous day.
Authorities say Hall owned a red Mazda CRX 5. Chief Deputy Michael Crabtree with the Washington County Sheriff's Office said that as deputies were taking down details from the family members and starting to look into where Hall might have gone, a report came in from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police that a body had been found near Wilson's Beach in Campobello, New Brunswick.
The RCMP had identified the person as Daryle Hall, and they believed he may have been involved in a car crash, based on injuries they say he sustained at the time of his death.
That set members of the Sheriff's Department on a search for Hall's vehicle, which they ended up finding in the water in Eastport.
"During the investigation, Deputies noticed what appeared to be recent damage to a concrete curb on the breakwater pier in Eastport and red plastic, possibly from a vehicle. Working in conjunction with the Eastport Port Authority, a vessel with bottom scanning equipment picked up an anomaly on the ocean floor right of the breakwater. Divers from Cooke Aquaculture were quick to assist and able to locate Mr. Hall's car in approximately 45 feet of water. "

Crabtree says that based on their findings, it appears Hall was the only person in the car at the time of the crash.
No further details have been released at this time.
