Maine Winery To Host ‘Bags, Boards & Bevies’ Fall Cornhole Bash In Lee This Weekend
When the folks at Marble Creek Acres opened up their winery and tasting room in May of 2024, they hit the ground running and haven't looked back.

Josh and Cathy Crise had already opened a goat farm and an Airbnb before taking on the project of the Winery.
"It’s been really encouraging. Since opening, we’ve seen a steady flow of support from both locals and visitors who are excited about small-batch Maine-made wine and cider. Each season we’ve grown a little more, and events like this help us connect with our community in ways that go beyond just what’s in the bottle."
After the Winery and Tasting Room opened, the couple started planning ways to create fun events for the folks in their community of Lee, while also giving other local vendors a chance to connect with others in the area, as well. The couple held their first townwide Annual Artisan Crawl in December of last year.

This weekend, they have even more fun planned.
On Saturday, September 20th, right at the Winery at 279 Winn Road in Lee, Maine, Cellars at Marble Creek Acres will host its first "Fall Cornhole Bash."
Owner Josh Crise says this is an event for all ages.
"This family-friendly event invites players of all skill levels to come toss bags, sip handcrafted small-batch wines and hard ciders, and enjoy the best of fall on the farm. The event is being supported by Lincoln Lakes Cornhole, who bring their energy and expertise to help manage tournament play and support a smooth, competitive experience for all."
Crise says that a lot of preparation went into planning this Fall Bash, including the development of a new outdoor cornhole area. He says this new area was designed to allow for 7 lanes of play at one time, creating a fun, competitive atmosphere.
There will be trophies and prizes for the winners, food and beverages available for purchase all day from their outdoor kitchen, the tasting room will be open, and access to their ATV Trail will be open for those who want to take a little ride.
"We wanted to create something that brings people together in a fun, laid-back way. A cornhole tournament is the perfect mix of friendly competition, relaxation, and community spirit—and it pairs really well with enjoying a glass of wine or cider. For us, it’s about giving people more reasons to gather at Marble Creek Acres, enjoy the space, and feel connected to what we’re building here."
"A big part of our vision is partnering with other small farms and food producers to enhance the experience. For many of our events, we’ll have food available from neighbors like Our Vision Farm in Kingman and Food by Steve from Topsfield. Thanks to the food sovereignty ordinance passed here in Lee two years ago, we’re able to collaborate directly with local farmers and food makers. It’s another way to keep things local, support small businesses, and create a true farm-to-table (and glass!) experience for our guests."
"Just as important to us is using local ingredients whenever possible in our winemaking. We work with nearby orchards, like Robinson’s Apple Orchard in Enfield, our orchard, and another in Lee, for apples and fruit, and we source maple syrup from producers like Chester Maine Maple and Mattakeunk Maple. Keeping our ingredients local not only supports the farms around us but also lets us create wines and ciders that are truly rooted in this community. Sourcing local is part of who we are—it makes every glass a reflection of Maine."

Crise says they hope to create more seasonal events like this in the future.
"...like harvest-themed gatherings in the fall, winter bonfires with mulled wine, and farm-to-glass tastings in the warmer months. We’re also excited about bringing in more casual community nights, like outdoor movie nights, trivia, and continuing with our live music offerings. All of these events help create a space where people can relax, have fun, and make memories."
