Cooper Flagg? He got game!

Anyone that knows me, is very aware that I absolutely love the game of basketball, almost to an obsessive degree so when I see a talented young phenom, who just happens to be from the state of Maine, my ears and eyes immediately perk up with glee.

When people think of Nokomis Regional High School in Newport, the first thing that comes to mind is the very high standard of the musicians in their jazz program over the years, but one freshman is putting hoops on the map too.

Freshman Cooper Flagg is a crazy six feet, eight inches tall. He can shoot the ball extremely well and is super athletic. He has a nose for rebounding and has perfect timing when it comes to shot-blocking. In other words, he is the complete package, and people are starting to take notice.

When Cooper made the trip to New Orleans to participate in the USA Basketball men’s junior national team, many eyes were open to his considerable gifts.

Flagg averaged 20.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 3.7 steals, and 3.7 blocks per game this season and managed to maintain a 3.67 grade point average. Impressive stuff

Nokomis went 21-1 on the way to the Class A State Championship, and Flagg played a huge role in making that happen.

The future’s so bright, this kid's gotta wear shades.

Check out his impressive highlight package. Who knows, maybe one day he will suit up for the Boston Celtics and raise a banner to the rafters.

For now, though, Cooper and his brother, Ace, are heading to prep school in Florida.
