As it stands right now, everything's a go for Autumn Gold.

Things are always very golden for one special weekend in Ellsworth every year, with big sales at businesses across the city, live music, a huge car show, tasty food served up by some of the best cooks in the county, and of course all of the very gold-colored decorations that are displayed far and wide.

Autumn Gold in Ellsworth takes place the week of Sept. 20, with the main day being that Saturday, Sept. 25.

Things will really kick off when the Crown Vics, one of the area's best boogie-woogie bands, plays live on Main Street in front of The Grand that Friday night beginning at 7.  While you're shaking your groove thing to the band, there will be a food truck and popcorn sale going on right there as well.

Then on Saturday the happenings really ramp up with the Rotary's blueberry pancake breakfast at the Moore Community Center beginning at 7.  The annual Roger Willey Road Race will step off from the Downeast Family YMCA at 8, while registration for the huge car show will begin at 8 as well in the parking lot of Home Depot.

There will be craft fairs and sales at both the Mill Mall and the Maine Coast Mall, and a big and tasty food festival, live music, and free boat rides on the Union River at Ellsworth's Harbor Park off Water Street.

There will also be a free shuttle service to the larger events, so keep an eye out for those signs as well.

Question is, "who will win this year's Chowder Fest?" Although for chowder lovers it really doesn't matter because they'll all be delicious! Just show up and dig in!

Keep an eye on the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce's website or their Facebook page for updates. But, definitely put this one on your schedule!

Stay In This Maine Airbnb Complete With A Caboose

This train is going nowhere and that's all right with us.

This cool and unique little setting featuring a cabin and caboose is located on farmland and can sleep up to 8 people. With 3 bedrooms and two baths, it's listed at $140 a night and looks like it would be a whole lot of fun.
