Danforth Man Accused Of Striking Pedestrian With Stolen Vehicle
A Danforth man faces several charges after police say he stole a vehicle and struck a pedestrian in Hodgdon.
Police say a man reported being struck by the mirror of an SUV as he was walking on Corner Road in Hodgdon at 1:00 a.m. on Thursday. The man said the driver of the SUV drove away following the accident.
Several hours later, the officer who was investigating the hit-and-run accident, was notified that a 2002 GMC Yukon had been stolen on Walker Road in Hodgdon.
Police say the Yukon was later found in a gravel pit in Danforth and evidence collected from the Corner Road incident linked the stolen vehicle to the accident.
Police say further investigation led to the arrest of 31-year-old Benjamin Barnes of Danforth.
Barnes is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, criminal mischief and failure to report a personal injury motor vehicle accident.
He is scheduled to appear in court in Houlton on December 22.
